Another reviewer puts this well - the author has talent but she uses a sledgehamner when a bit of finesse and nuance would result in a more compelling story. This story is another example of the sledgehammer approach- she doesn't just give her H a horrific past, she gives him an ugly persona in the present and a bleak future, resulting in a lot of almost unforgivable behaviour from him. Add to this the h's crazed ex and there is just too much going on to make this a heartbreaking romance with a troubled H turned good. Instead it is just a mess of unbelievable and histrionic events. I also have an issue with romances that are centered around the H being drawn to the h for something completely outside her control, rather than it being about her actions and how she treats others and her outlook on the world. Often it is the h's looks; in this case it is her voice. This plot device might be ok if the H then falls for who the h really is when he gets to know her better but in this case the h is nice enough but really there is nothing particularly inspiring about her to explain why such a troubled H would be so taken by her. The author also has a habit of starting the h off strong but she then becomes weak and mushy around the H, allowing him to get away with too much and suspending her previously rational behaviour.Still I read to the end and was mildly entertained so there are some positives to the story if you can suspend belief for long enough.

Make Me Sin Bad Habit Book 2 edition by JT Geissinger Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews
My Review
Wow, I'm not even sure where to begin with this book. It was so freaking good and it started out that way, but then it just kept getting better and better and better. By the end of the book, I was sobbing. So good, so emotional. There was so much to this story and these characters...and seriously, so much of it kept me gasping over the emotion.
A.J. and Chloe hate one another. But she has no idea why. She just knows that he literally spews hatred at her when he's near her. Every single other person in her world likes her. She doesn't understand it at all. As far as she knows, she didn't do anything to cause it.
But there's so much more than the interesting undercurrents between them. A.J. is the drummer for the band Bad Habit, but he has an interesting skill. He literally sees music. He also has a completely mysterious background. It's clear that his wikipedia history for him isn't quite the truth, but what is the truth? No one truly knows. The only thing anyone does know is that A.J. is a big, surly beast with a penchant for tattoos and high-price prostitutes...not exactly romantic interest material, especially when Chloe has a perfectly good boyfriend who's totally into her and has a respectable job as a cop. But that doesn't stop her from fantasizing about A.J. at the most inopportune moments.
There are so many highlights to this book, but I'm going to mention my favorites
*AJ's home...wow, I was enthralled by the images the author painted of where he lives. It's so magical and mystical, especially in how it relates to A.J. and how he sees himself.
*in the background of this story is the wedding planning for Nico and Kat. I loved that we got to see so much of that. I loved their story in the first book, so it was awesome that they played such a huge role in this book.
*It's obvious from the very beginning that A.J. is seriously torn. The author wrote his angst so beautifully and perfectly. My heart hurt throughout so much of this story (and I love it when I get that emotionally involved.)
The book is told almost entirely from Chloe's point of view, but there are tiny little chapters thrown in from A.J.'s point of view. I loved how the author did that because I do love those little glimpses into his thoughts. They were like sweet little chocolate nuggets thrown into the story.
It was so, so, so good. I highly recommend this one.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in return for an honest review, but as soon as I finished the book I got online and preordered a copy of the book in print for my keeper shelf.
'Make Me Sin’ by J.T. Geissinger triggers a whirlwind of feeling with a deeply emotional story of love, heartbreak, and hope. A follow up to ‘Sweet as Sin’ in her Bad Habit series, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect after hearing how much it 'wrecked' her to write this book, and I could not imagine what she had in store for for A.J. Edwards and Chloe Carmichael with them having so much animosity between them. In ‘Make Me Sin,’ Geissinger has gifted their beautiful, achingly tender, and touching journey crafted with many unique layers of character depth and suspense.
Chloe Carmichael is a seemingly simple people pleaser who puts her heart and soul into building her successful floral business, and A.J. Edwards is a very tough and closed off yet talented musician who seems to detest Chloe and continuously throw insults at her. With their friends’ Kat and Nico’s wedding quickly approaching, they are constantly forced to be around each other being that they are Maid of Honor and Best Man. For some reason, A.J.’s aggression towards Chloe begins to ignite a certain fire (or misfire?) between the two of them, and she becomes determined to find out what his problem is with her. Although she sometimes gets small glimpses of a softer side to A.J., he continues to shut her out and push her away. Will she ever solve the puzzles that lie within him, and is it possible for them to build any type of civil relationship together?
Some of my favorite things in Geissinger’s books are her unique and creative story lines and her character depth...
Chloe had so much more determination and strong belief in A.J., and she was surprisingly undeterred in what others thought about her relationship with. him. He had such heart, tenderness, and passion in his soul, and it was very touching how he expressed it to Chloe in many unique ways through his words, the art of origami, and of course his music. It was so sad that deep within A.J. lay such an inner turmoil of self-loathing and hatred for himself stemming from his haunting past and resulted in his feelings of not deserving any happiness.
Their story was so poetically written as it transformed from his troubled past and pain to the possibility of finding hope and having something beautiful. There was such an uncertainty in whether their love for each other could ever come to fruition and if A.J. would be able to get over the fears of his past and be able to take a chance on Chloe. It was absolutely impossible not to feel and be all encompassed with them in their struggle - it was so heart breaking!
Honestly, I was completely unprepared for the unexpected relationship between Chloe and A.J. Geissinger completely drew me in and kept me turning page after page with suspense and yearning for the answers. Just when I thought I was getting them, I was completely thrown off course with yet another unexpected turn. ‘Make Me Sin’ had me on pins and needles throughout, and I must say that it definitely touched my heart. I am so looking forward to her next book in this series not only to see if there will be a HEA for Chloe and A.J. but also what lies ahead for Grace and Brody!
Absolutely a 5-Star read for ‘Make Me Sin’, and I definitely recommended reading the Bad Habit Series!
